How to Deal: #OnFights

No matter what stage you are in your relationship, having fights are inevitable.

Here’s how to deal:

Arguments are expected in relationships, because you and your partner won’t agree on all things, all the time. During fights, don’t let your emotions get the best (or worst) of you.  Fighting is like a song.  It hits the high notes then everything cools down.  Don’t attempt to throw off his cherished black fang guitar pick when you are angry with him.  You will end up saying things or making decisions you might regret later on.  But don’t avoid issues either – because the sooner you resolve them, the better. My Life's Anik-Aniks

2 Reasons to Choose a Tritoon Boat

If you’re looking for power and luxury in your boating experience, you can’t go wrong with a pontoon boat. Whether you’re an avid angler or you simply like to sail the waters, pontoons are versatile and up for the task. Triple toon boats are pontoon boats for the most committed boaters.

2 Reasons to Choose a Tritoon Boat

High Resale Value

Although the resale value of a boat you’re about to purchase probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind, the fact is that tritoon boats maintain a high value – simply because they’re so loved by their owners, few part with them. If, however, something comes up and you need to sell your boat (or you want to upgrade), you can count on a high value from your tritoon.

Better Performance

Tritoons are a must for anyone who loves water skiing and tubing, as the extra boost of power makes both activities a much more fun experience. Go faster when you need to and further when you’re cruising with almost twice the speed of a pontoon and a bigger fuel tank.

There’s more room for passengers on a tritoon, but even if you prefer to boat alone, tritons are simply the smartest investment. Ask about test driving one today.mufavicon

10 Ways to Maximize Small Spaces

Small spaces need not be a curse if you know what to do.  Choose bright colors and play with lighting to extend your space, make use of multipurpose furniture, and find creative ways to deal with your clutter.

Here are 10 Ways to Maximize Small Spaces:

  1. Make use of spaces above and below areas occupied by furniture, appliances and stairways.   Utilize under-the-bed storage and overhead shelves and cabinets.  Wall mount appliances such as TV and DVD players in order to free up floor space.  Spaces under the stairways can be used as foyer, telephone nook or shoe/coat/umbrella storage.
  2. Think multi-purpose rooms, where daytime and nighttime uses are combined.  Japanese tatami rooms are used as living, dining and bedroom.  Analyze your lifestyle.  A living room can also become a home office, home theater, reading room, family room or music room all rolled into one.
  3. Have an open plan, which makes small areas look more spacious by reducing visual and physical barriers.  Lay out in such a way that the living and dining room flow naturally to the garden, thereby visually “borrowing” exterior space and increasing the sense of spaciousness.  Using skylight and glass partitions can also extend living space.
  4. Play with color and light.  An effective combination of color and light can create an illusion of bigger space.  Maximize sunlight.  In cases where it is limited, use different types of illumination that go well with your color scheme.  You are not anymore limited to light colors.  Depth and contrast can create more interesting spaces.
  5. Expand living spaces.  New sofa can double as lounge chairs or reading chairs.  Ottomans can be used not only as extra seats, but also as footrests, center tables and additional storage spaces.
  6. Optimize kitchen spaces.  Modern kitchen cabinet designs have become very specialized with the use of wire baskets for different kinds of utensils.  Hang special condiment racks, napkin holders, and cooking utensil hooks on walls.  Use a hanging appliance garage for microwave ovens and toasters to free up kitchen counter space.  Place corner baskets where needed.  Pantry-organizers can double your cabinet space.
  7. Design small bathroom spaces efficiently.  Wash basins with built-in vanity cabinets that provide additional storage spaces are now available.  Use shower glass enclosures to open up an otherwise tight space.  An etagere is a kind of shelf unit that can be placed on top of a water closet that further adds storage space.
  8. Maximize wardrobe spaces.  Sliding doors can save more circulation space than regular swing out closet doors.  Full-length mirrors can be integrated on the doors to make the room look bigger, and at the same time can be used for dressing up.  Use drawers and shelves with dividers to organize socks, underwear, ties, etc. , as well as inexpensive hanging organizers where you can put towels and shirts in an orderly manner.
  9. Use day beds and sofa beds.  A sofa by day and bed by night used to be hard to find, but are now very popular.  This makes it possible to make the bedroom double up as a home office or study room.
  10. Choose right-sized furniture.  Avoid bulky furniture that is designed for grand spaces.  Use correct furniture proportion in a  more intimate scale.  Make sure you measure carefully.  Using masking tape to outline the spaces to be occupied by the furniture is a good way to visualize and stimulate how all the furniture pieces will interact with each other.

5 Smart Strategies to Improve Your Home Office

Times have changed.  You may be doing most of your office work at home or you are a work-at-home person!

Either way, here are 5 smart strategies to spiff up your home office:

1.  Start with an ovis table with drawers for storage, a comfortable chair and a filing cabinet where you can stash all your paper work.

2.  Bring life to a dull corkboard by covering it in fabric.  Fasten to the back with double-sided tape.

3.  If your office is part of a bigger space like the living room, define the area by laying down a rug.

4.  Get organized using everyday items.  Wide glasses can hold mail, while empty jam jars or baby food jars can hold small supplies like paper clips.

5.  Line your table with sheets of paper.  You can easily jot down notes and tear and dispose as needed. My Life's Anik Aniks

4 Ways to De-Clutter Your Room

1. Make a “Throw, Keep, Give” pile.  Separating your stash into these categories will make organizing so much easier.

How To: Clean A Messy Room

2. Sort things out.  Creating groupings can give a shelf or closet instant visual appeal.  Think of categorizing by color (works well with clothes and shoes), genre (great for DVDs, CDs or books), and by size (books, jewelries, guitars, your guitar input jack, tiny knick-knacks, and your photos.

3. Don’t fear disposing.  Battle your inner Pack Rat and give yourself a serious talking-to.  Have you used the item in the last six months?  In the last year?  If it’s just bee sitting in your closet, it’s about time you make room for something new.

4.  Make time.  Rome wasn’t built in a day – and neither are clean rooms.  It took a while for your room to get as messy as it is now, and it is going to take as much time (if not a little more) to get it back in tiptop shape. My Life's Anik Aniks

Don’t Rush to Grow Up

Thirteen is such a special age, but the curious ting is that you won’t fully realize it until years later.  Looking back, I am filled with fondness for the young, awkward, painfully naïve me who loves listening to Garth Brooks every time I feel down.  But at that time, of course, I would have traded places with someone older and wiser in a heartbeat.

So what I mean is, being a teen is meant to be savored.  Don’t be in such a hurry to turn 20, 25, and 30.  You have the rest of your life to be a full-fledged grown up; for now, all you’ve really got to focus on is growing up.

How To Clean a Dirty Stovetop

When I see kitchens like this:

…I shrink in shame.  After so many mealtimes, my stovetop looks sooo dirty.

Here’s what I learned from my mom:  The key to keeping this major kitchen area clean is to be extra vigilant of spills and stains – once you see it, even while cooking, wipe it off, because it will harden.  Constant cleaning also results to a bacteria-free cooking zone.

To lessen the stress you feel whenever you see your dirty stovetop, here is what you can do:

1. Make sure that before you turn on the burners, the stovetop is clean.  Heat just makes food stick to the stovetop more.  For daily cleaning, use a mixture of three parts water to one part baking soda on a clean sponge.  If the dirt is particularly tough, you can try this:

2. After an especially greasy cook-off, shut off the power or gas, take out the removable parts, and soak them in a solution of equal parts ammonia and water.

3. Clean out tough grime left on the burners by putting on a large pot filled with water and a half-cup of baking soda.  Let this solution boil over onto the burners.

4. If grease and other foodstuff have hardened onto your stovetop, you may have to scrape them off gently with a razor blade.  Soften extra-sticky areas by spraying on your ammonia and water solution.  Wipe off.

Four Tips To Maintain Your Vinyl Tiles

What’s not to love about vinyl tiles?  They are water-resistant, affordable and come in myriad patterns and colors.

But without proper maintenance, your pretty vinyl floor can become pretty faded and dirty.  This is because the patterned or colored surface is printed on a vinyl sheet, and its protective topcoat may wear off from use.  Plus, tiles with textured surfaces also contribute to dirt buildup.

Need to repair your vinyl tiles?  I have tried this and it really worked:

Here are tips on how to maintain your vinyl tile floor:

Mop your tiles if a broom can’t remove the surface dirt.  Use lukewarm water with mild detergent if the tiles are extra-dirty, and run the mop across the tile surface.

To remove stubborn scuffmarks, apply a bit of eucalyptus oil to the spot with a dry cloth.  To avoid scratches, put felt pads like these ones underneath your furniture’s legs.

Sunlight may discolor and fade vinyl tiles over time.  If you have direct sunlight streaming through a window, always draw the curtains in that area.

To lengthen your vinyl floor’s life, use vinyl finish solutions like Pledge Floor Care, Multi-Surface Finish, 27-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6)Apply two coats of the solution on the floor and go over it with an electric polisher.  Buff every two weeks.
